I am bisexual (for the sake of expediency. I have issues with the binary 'bisexual' reinforces, so I'm generally more likely to use pansexual or simply queer).
I am polyamorous.
Poly and bisexual/pansexual do not automatically correlate. This is also useful to remember.
I am an Asian and white Australian (of Chinese, English, and Scottish ancestry).
I am a feminist.
If you think that means I hate men, you really need to meet more feminists, because you're sorely mistaken.

I lived the first 18-odd years of my life in Sydney. Towards the end of my 18th year, I moved to Brisbane. Whilst there are still people in Sydney whom I love and adore, my home is here, now. Sydney itself leaves me bitter. It's a cruel city; particularly for someone without a (figurative) spine. My spine has grown much more successfully in the warm northern climate of Brisbane. Now it's rather chilly, but okay.
I've completed a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Sociology, Applied Ethics and Politics at QUT. I was planning to apply for an Honours program, until my final semester, in which QUT management decided that Universities don't need Arts programs, or Creative Industries needed our funding, or something. After that, I decided I didn't want to continue my studies at a University that doesn't respect its students.
So, I high-tailed down to Canberra after graduation, to join my partner ![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) stephendann, and started working in claims for a Workers' Compensation Insurer. It's sometimes frustrating, but I wasn't really keen on going back into academia so soon. However, my nerdiness got the better of me, and I'm now undertaking a Master of Arts (Professional and Applied Ethics) at the Australian National University (ANU) part time.
My life hasn't been easy. No one's really has. Life is hard, much of the time. There are things I've experienced that you may not have. There are things you've experienced that I haven't. I am not stupid because I don't agree with you. You are not stupid because you don't agree with me. If I accuse you of being stupid, I probably have a much better reason.
I tend to babble about tv shows a bit; though often not very coherently. I dabble around the edges of fandom in a not particularly participatory (for productive forms of participatory) way.
I guest-blog on occasion at Shrub.com, which besides me has some great contributors, so you should read it anyway. I also have my own blog for social justice issues at (Liminal) Spaces. Due to the myriad issues with LJ management, I'm limiting my LJ use for social announcements and the more superficial (in a non-pejorative sense) stuff.
